Street food of India!

India has always been a land of ardent food lovers. People in India love eating like anything. Albeit, the concept of becoming health conscious is getting prevalent these days but the number of food lovers has not seen any abatement either. In this era of lavish restaurants and coffee chains, people are missing the experience of the great street food culture of India. When you love food, it is always on your priority. As the great George Bernard Shaw said- “There is no sincerer love than the love of food”. You can gauge a lot about a person by this eating habits and the choice of food he prefers to eat. Street food also plays a key role in helping us increase the immunity level of our body.

The type and taste of street food in India varies with geographical locations. In Kashmir you will find the awesome Kashmiri Tea which has dry fruits in it as well. You also find a variety of non-vegetarian stuff. There is this “Kashmiri Dum Aloo” a special preparation of vegetarian stuff in non-vegetarian style. Hyderabad is another place in India known for its rich food culture. The city of Nizam is well known for its mouth watering non-vegetarian preparations. The Hyderabadi Biryaani is something that no non-vegetarian wants to miss! The places like the Charminar and the Golkonda fort are places with rich street food culture. Eating in Hyderabad is so delicious, it’s like you are forced to pick up food and put it in your mouth.

When you talk about food, taste, street food you can never miss to mention Delhi. The capital city is full of awesome food spots. From lavish bar restaurants to traditional street food spots, Delhi is blessed with the best! You can get a variety of chicken from the conventional “Tandoori Chicken” to the “Butter Cream Chicken”, the choices are many. While roaming on the streets in Delhi you can get a chance to eat “Nankhatai”, the dying Indian ‘biskoot’! The history of “Nankhatai” is pretty interesting. It is believed that a couple of Dutch men started making it in a bakery that they owned in Surat. While leaving India, they handed over the bakery to a Parsi gentleman. That’s why some people call it “Irani Biskoot” as well. You will also get a variety of Afghan food in Delhi, predominantly in the Lajpat Nagar Area. Delhi is also blessed with taste of Tibetan culture. You will get to experience real Tibetan food and culture at the “Majnu Ka Tilla”. The place has history behind its name. It is believed that a Sufi mystic used to help people and ferry them across the Yamuna River for free. Thus people started calling him Majnu (crazy)!

India is jam-packed with street food options. The Indian streets are full of “Paani Puri” walas and the “Chhole Kulche” walas! You will get great desserts like “Jalebi” and “Kesar Milk” on the road-side stalls. So if you are a gourmand then an Indian street with a lot of food options is the place where you want to be. The Indian street food not only suffices your taste buds but also helps you increase your immunity level.
